COMBATHATE Project Presented at the “Adults Only” Idea Accelerator in Pärnu

On 4th of June 2026, Nooruse Maja in Pärnu hosted the “Adults Only” Idea Accelerator, a national event jointly organised by the Estonian Association of Folk High Schools (ERL) and ANDRAS, the Estonian Adult Education Association.

The event brought together more than 50 participants from across the adult education sector, including educators, trainers, project managers, public officials, community leaders, and representatives of organisations working with people with disabilities. The gathering provided an excellent opportunity for networking, exchanging experiences, and discussing current challenges and opportunities in adult learning.

As the hosting organisation and a partner in the COMBATHATE project, Nooruse Maja introduced the project and shared the progress achieved so far. Participants were informed about the project's objectives, which focus on combating hate speech and hate crimes against individuals with mental disabilities, as well as promoting inclusion, awareness, and support mechanisms for vulnerable groups.

The presentation highlighted several key project outcomes developed to date, including the needs assessment activities conducted in partner countries, the development of educational and support materials, and the ongoing work on tools designed to assist both professionals and victims. Particular attention was given to the project's multidisciplinary approach, which combines legal guidance, psychological first aid, awareness-raising, and practical resources for educators and support workers.

The presence of representatives from disability organisations provided valuable opportunities for discussion and feedback. Participants expressed strong interest in the project's aims and recognised the importance of addressing hate speech and discrimination through education, community engagement, and cross-sector cooperation.

The event contributed to the dissemination of COMBATHATE project results among a diverse audience of adult education stakeholders and strengthened connections between the project and organisations working to promote inclusion and equal opportunities across Estonia.
